Since early childhood, Carmen Vertner has always displayed intelligence, charisma, and leadership abilities. As she grew older, she developed a love for reading, writing, and drawing. Following in her mother’s footsteps as an entrepreneur, Carmen began selling her drawings and books to family members. She often created and performed skits and dance routines for others to enjoy. Carmen’s mother realized that Carmen’s passion for writing and performing were permanent characteristics. In 2020 and at only 7 years old, this led to the launch of her business, Carmen’s Corner, LLC. She later expanded her business products to include homemade slime, various knick knacks, and lemonade (which she consistently sells out of).
After a conversation about racism with her mother, Carmen became a young advocate for building confidence and fighting bullying. She decided that she wanted to have a confidence conference to help every young girl to “like her for her”. Carmen then created her original event, Confidently BeYOUtiful© – a confidence boosting workshop for girls aged 5-9 years old. During this live and virtual event, Carmen encourages girls to stick up for themselves, believe in themselves, and to wear their “Confidence Crown©” proudly!
Carmen’s event landed her on the front page news of the Herald Times and with a featured interview on WISHTV-8 news. Carmen has been featured in the international magazine, UpWords. She has also been featured with the following: Business Men & Women of Color Magazine, Creating Your Seat at the Table Magazine, Creating Your Seat at the Table Live T.A.L.K. Radio, Humanity for the Win Guest Speaker, and Kiwanis Club of South Central Indiana Speaker.
Carmen is the youngest co-author in the First Class Life™ anthology series where she shares how to be happy. Through her life, Carmen’s mission is to spread laughter and happiness. She states that people should always be kind to one another and encourage each other. In her spare time, Carmen likes to play with friends, model in photo shoots, and play pranks on her father and brother (“the boys of the house”).
